Nursing Experience of Treating a Patient with Lumbar Intervertebral Disc Herniation of Cold-Dampness Obstruction and Spleen-Kidney Yang Deficiency Type Based on the Theory of Warming and Unblocking
Lumbar intervertebral disc herniation is a major cause of low back pain, which is difficult to cure and prone to recurrence. This study conducted a TCM syndrome differentiation for a patient with lumbar intervertebral disc herniation of cold-dampness obstruction and spleen-kidney yang deficiency type. Based on the patient's positive signs and cold-dampness and yang deficiency constitution, the theory of warming and unblocking was used as the guiding principle, warming methods as the means, and unblocking the meridians as the goal. This approach effectively alleviated the patient's low back and leg pain, numbness in both lower extremities, diarrhea, and insomnia, and reduced the possibility of recurrence of low back pain. This case aims to provide a useful reference and guidance for the clinical treatment of patients with lumbar intervertebral disc herniation.
