Nursing Report on the Treatment of Post-Oxaliplatin Chemotherapy-Induced Limb Numbness Using Chinese Herbal Compress Combined with Herbal Soaking Therapy: A Case Study
This study explores the interventional efficacy of specialized nursing care integrating Chinese herbal compress with herbal soaking therapy for patients experiencing limb numbness following oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy. Through implementing herbal compress and soaking interventions in one case of liver-metastasized colon cancer patient with post-chemotherapy limb numbness, symptom improvement was observed. Post-intervention, the patient exhibited significant alleviation of limb numbness, narrowed range of numbness, and near-complete resolution of tingling sensations. Symptoms including dry mouth and bitter taste were reduced, sleep quality improved, and diarrhea frequency decreased with stools gradually formed. Traditional Chinese Medicine symptom profiles demonstrated overall improvement, alongside enhanced daily living capacity, markedly improved psychological state, and high nursing satisfaction. These findings indicate that the integrated herbal compress and soaking protocol effectively mitigates oxaliplatin-induced limb numbness, enhances quality of life, and offers novel clinical insights for nursing management of such patients.
