Synergistic Integration of Chinese and Western Medicine: Individualized Diagnosis-Treatment-Nursing Approach for a Patient with Acute Renal Failure
This paper reports a clinical practice of individualized treatment combining traditional Chinese and Western medicine for a patient with acute renal failure. Based on the principle of "treating the symptoms in acute cases and the root cause in chronic cases", Western medicine used continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) to rapidly remove toxic substances such as creatinine, urea nitrogen, and inflammatory mediators, and correct water-electrolyte and acid-base balance disorders; traditional Chinese medicine used a combination of Chinese herbal ointment massage and acupoint massage to achieve the effects of purging the bowels and detoxification, and regulating qi movement. The two therapies worked together to form a dual-pathway intervention model of "mechanical clearance + physiological regulation". The results showed that this treatment plan significantly improved the patient's symptoms such as shortness of breath and oliguria, promoted the recovery of renal function, and shortened the ICU stay. It was confirmed that the combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine can not only precisely remove toxins through CRRT but also leverage the advantages of traditional Chinese medicine in overall regulation, providing an innovative solution for acute renal failure that addresses both the symptoms and the root cause.
