Nursing Experience of Pediatric Tuina Intervention Based on the "Cultivating Earth to Restrain Water" Theory for a Child with Growth Retardation due to Spleen-Kidney Deficiency
This article summarizes the nursing experience of applying pediatric Tuina (Chinese therapeutic massage) based on the "Cultivating Earth to Restrain Water" theory to treat a child with growth retardation attributed to spleen-kidney deficiency. Guided by the TCM principles of the Five Zang-Organs' relationship with the Five Elements and syndrome-differentiated care, targeted Tuina techniques were implemented alongside a holistic regimen encompassing diet, exercise, and sleep management. The intervention promoted physical growth, alleviated TCM symptoms, and improved sleep quality and overall well-being. This case demonstrates that pediatric Tuina, as a characteristic non-pharmacological TCM therapy, offers distinct advantages—including simplicity, efficacy, and higher acceptability among children and parents compared to drug-based treatments.
