Clinical Application of Traditional Chinese Medicine Snake Oil Ointment Combined with Standardized Nursing in Chemotherapy-Induced Extravasation Skin Injury of the Neck: A Case Report
This study reports a severe case of chemotherapy-induced extravasation skin injury in the neck, which was innovatively treated with topical application of a hospital-prepared Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) snake oil ointment combined with standardized therapeutic measures, including temperature control, systemic support, anti-infection protocols, and wound management. A multidisciplinary team approach was adopted for comprehensive treatment and personalized nursing. After two weeks of intervention, the patient’s skin infection was effectively controlled, and the ulcerated wound achieved complete epithelialization. Compared to conventional treatments, this approach shortened the wound healing time to 11 days, increased the white blood cell count from 2.54×10⁹/L to 9.64×10⁹/L, and raised hemoglobin levels from 63 g/L to 78 g/L, with wound healing time reduced by 3–10 days compared to literature-reported outcomes. This study highlights a clinical nursing pathway of "TCM external therapy combined with local microecological regulation and barrier repair" for chemotherapy-induced extravasation injuries. By modulating the wound microenvironment and promoting tissue regeneration, this method significantly accelerates healing, offering a novel integrated Chinese-Western medical strategy for severe skin damage post-chemotherapy extravasation.
