Nursing Experience of Warm-Meridian Bloodletting Puncture and Moxibustion Combined with Facial Massage in Treating a Patient with Facial Paralysis
To explore the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) nursing protocol and clinical efficacy of warm-meridian bloodletting puncture and moxibustion combined with facial massage in treating facial paralysis due to wind-cold invasion of collaterals.
Methods
2
A patient with wind-cold invasion-type facial paralysis was treated with warm-meridian bloodletting puncture and moxibustion combined with facial massage, alongside TCM nursing interventions including syndrome-differentiated care, procedural coordination, emotional regulation, dietary management, and rehabilitation guidance.
Results
2
After two weeks of intervention, the patient's House-Brackmann facial nerve function grading improved from grade IV to grade II; the Facial Disability Index (FDI) score increased from 68 to 92; forehead wrinkle depth and nasolabial fold depth recovered to 90% and 85% of the healthy side, respectively; the oral commissure deviation distance decreased from 8 mm to 1 mm; the TCM symptom score reduced from 8 to 1; the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) score decreased from 60 to 32; and right-sided toothache and left ear pain improved, with the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) score dropping from 1 to 0.
Conclusion
2
Integrated TCM and Western nursing can synergistically enhance the therapeutic effects of warm-meridian bloodletting puncture and moxibustion combined with facial massage, promoting nerve function recovery in facial paralysis patients and providing a standardized clinical nursing reference.
