Nursing Care Experience of External Treatment Techniques Combined with Moist Exposed Burn Ointment Topical Application for a Patient with Incontinence-Associated Dermatitis
This article reports the nursing care process for a patient with incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD) treated with traditional Chinese medicine external treatment techniques combined with topical application of moist exposed burn ointment (MEBO). Based on a comprehensive assessment of the patient's condition, a personalized nursing care plan was developed, incorporating wound debridement and topical application of MEBO (applied after each episode of incontinence with three additional daily applications at a thickness of 1-2 mm), in conjunction with external therapeutic techniques including warm moxibustion device therapy (once daily) and Chinese herbal ointment massage (once daily). Favorable therapeutic outcomes were achieved, with complete wound healing observed after 11 days of treatment. Throughout the nursing care process, emphasis was placed on skin protection, pain management, and health education, providing a practical reference for the clinical management of patients with incontinence-associated dermatitis.
