Nursing Experience of Combined Cotton-Padding Method and Butterfly Tape Fixation in Treating a Patient with Pilonidal Cyst Complicated by Abscess
This article summarizes the nursing experience of a patient with pilonidal cyst complicated by abscess treated with the combined cotton-padding method and butterfly tape fixation. Individualized nursing interventions were implemented, including the cotton-padding method to alleviate local pressure and prevent displacement, supplemented by butterfly tape to enhance dressing stability, thereby improving patient comfort and compliance. The nursing approach integrated Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles, such as oral herbal medicine for clearing heat and detoxification, topical herbal ointment for reducing swelling and draining pus, acupuncture to regulate qi and blood circulation, and dietary adjustments to strengthen vital qi. These multidimensional interventions effectively alleviated local redness, swelling, and pain, promoted inflammation resolution, and facilitated lesion recovery. Close monitoring of wound changes, combined with anti-infection therapy and postoperative lifestyle guidance, achieved favorable outcomes. This case highlights the synergistic effects of integrated Chinese and Western medicine in managing skin and soft tissue infections, as well as the significance of meticulous nursing.
