Nursing Experience of Low-Frequency Electrical Stimulation Combined with Traditional Chinese Medicine Nursing in the Rehabilitation of a Spinal Cord Injury Patient
Patients with spinal cord injury (SCI) often experience activity limitations, neurogenic bowel dysfunction, and pressure ulcer risks due to neurological impairments, necessitating comprehensive nursing interventions. This study reports a 54-year-old male patient with T12 vertebral fracture and SCI caused by a high-altitude fall. An integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine nursing approach was implemented, including modern rehabilitation techniques (low-frequency electrical stimulation, limb compression therapy, and balance training) combined with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) nursing interventions (acupuncture, moxibustion, acupoint application, and herbal medicine). After 4 weeks of intervention, the patient showed improved self-care ability, restored bowel movement frequency (1 per 1–2 days), no pressure ulcer occurrence, and reduced anxiety.
