Nursing Report on the Treatment of a Patient with Severe Gastroparesis After Gastric Stromal Tumor Surgery Using Chinese Herbal Ointment Massage Combined with Moxibustion
This article summarizes the nursing experience of a patient with gastric emptying disorder following surgery for a gastrointestinal stromal tumor. The patient underwent laparoscopic lesion resection combined with omentectomy at an external hospital and subsequently developed persistent nausea and vomiting, leading to a diagnosis of gastroparesis. Nasogastric enteral nutrition support was initiated. Upon admission, a comprehensive intervention was implemented, integrating enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) nursing techniques, including acupoint moxibustion (once daily, 15 minutes per acupoint) and Chinese herbal ointment massage (once daily, 30 minutes per session). After 12 days of combined therapy, the patient demonstrated significant improvement in nutritional status and marked alleviation of anxiety. The results indicate that these TCM nursing methods—acupoint moxibustion and herbal ointment massage—are straightforward to administer, clinically effective, and capable of ameliorating postoperative gastroparesis symptoms while enhancing quality of life, underscoring their potential for broader clinical application.
