Nursing Experience of Combined Fire Dragon Can and Auricular Point Pressing Therapy in Treating an Elderly Patient with Insomnia of Heart-Spleen Deficiency Type
This paper summarizes the experience of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment and nursing for elderly patients with primary insomnia of heart-spleen deficiency type, and explores the application value of a combined plan centered on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) characteristic nursing, with basic nursing as a guarantee and psychological intervention as a supplement. A 72-year-old female patient was selected. After admission, baseline assessment was completed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS), and TCM syndrome score scale. The intervention plan was centered on TCM characteristic nursing, with fire dragon can therapy performed three times a week, selecting back-shu points (Spleen Shu, Heart Shu, Diaphragm Shu) and Ren meridian points (Zhongwan, Qihai, Guanyuan), each point operated for 5 minutes, and auricular point pressing selecting Shenmen, Heart, Spleen, Kidney, Subcortex, and Zhi points. Basic nursing measures included optimizing the sleep environment, dietary guidance, and psychological intervention. After 4 weeks of intervention, the patient's sleep indicators significantly improved, anxiety and depression states were relieved, and the clinical symptoms of heart-spleen deficiency syndrome were completely cured. This case indicates that compared with simple drug treatment or conventional nursing, this combined plan can not only effectively improve the sleep quality of elderly patients with primary insomnia of heart-spleen deficiency type, but also play a good regulatory role in their anxiety and depression psychological states, providing a replicable personalized intervention plan reference for the clinical nursing of elderly patients with heart-spleen deficiency type primary insomnia.
