Nursing Experience of Collaborative Application of Traditional Chinese Medicine Nursing Techniques in the Care of a Severe Acute Intestinal Obstruction Patient
This article reports the nursing experience of a severe case of acute intestinal obstruction treated with synergistic intervention of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) nursing techniques. On the basis of conventional Western nursing care, the coordinated application of TCM nursing techniques—centered on the principles of strengthening the spleen and replenishing qi, activating blood circulation and dredging collaterals, and regulating qi to relieve fu-organ stagnation—effectively alleviated the patient’s abdominal pain and distension, achieved reduced intra-abdominal pressure, decreased abdominal circumference, restored intestinal peristalsis, and spontaneous defecation/flatus. Ultimately, the patient’s condition stabilized, enabling successful transfer from the ICU for continued treatment. The study demonstrates that the synergistic application of TCM nursing techniques in intestinal obstruction patients yields significant outcomes, with advantages such as operational simplicity and high patient comfort, warranting clinical promotion.
