Nursing Report on the Treatment of a Patient with Diarrhea-Predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome of Liver Depression and Spleen Deficiency Syndrome by Umbilical Moxibustion Combined with Bagua Abdominal Massage
This nursing case study explores the application effect of a comprehensive traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) nursing approach, including umbilical moxibustion, Bagua abdominal massage, emotional counseling, dietary management, and lifestyle intervention, in the care of a patient with diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) of liver depression and spleen deficiency syndrome. For a patient with diarrhea-predominant IBS, TCM external therapies such as umbilical moxibustion and Bagua abdominal massage were adopted, along with personalized emotional care, dietary guidance, and lifestyle adjustment. After a 4-week intervention, the patient's diarrhea frequency significantly decreased, abdominal pain symptoms were relieved, the syndrome score of liver depression and spleen deficiency decreased, and the quality of life improved significantly. This provides practical experience and reference for the clinical nursing of such patients.
