Nursing Experience of Pharmacotherapy Combined with Ma's Warm Moxibustion for a Case of Acute Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding
Upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB), a critical condition in gastroenterology, typically manifests as hematemesis and melena, with severe cases potentially leading to hemorrhagic shock and life-threatening consequences. While Western pharmacotherapy serves as the foundational treatment for acute hemostasis, some patients exhibit suboptimal responses or recurrent bleeding. Ma's Warm Moxibustion, characterized by its effects of warming yang, replenishing qi, resolving stasis, and stopping bleeding, is particularly suitable for hemorrhage disorders related to spleen-stomach dysfunction. This article presents a case of acute UGIB treated with integrated Western medication and Ma's Warm Moxibustion, supplemented by comprehensive nursing interventions including close vital sign monitoring, standardized moxibustion procedures, and intensified dietary and emotional care. Post-intervention, the patient achieved effective hemorrhage control, progressive clinical improvement, and was discharged on day 12 of hospitalization.
