Nursing Experience of Auricular Therapy in Treating Patients with Intractable Hiccup after Basilar Artery Thrombectomy
To summarize the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) nursing experience of auricular therapy in treating a patient with intractable hiccup after basilar artery thrombectomy, and to provide references for clinical nursing practice.
Methods
2
A middle-aged male patient with intractable hiccup (duration > 48 h) after basilar artery thrombectomy received TCM syndrome differentiation-based nursing care. A comprehensive auricular intervention was implemented, integrating holographic auricular scraping, finger acupoint pressing, and moxibustion, with a treatment course of 7 days. Basic nursing care and condition monitoring were provided concurrently.
Results
2
After the comprehensive auricular therapy, the patient's hiccup symptoms were significantly alleviated, and the accompanying symptoms including abdominal distension, nausea, and vomiting were markedly relieved. During the 1-month follow-up after discharge, no recurrence of intractable hiccup was observed, and the patient's quality of life was notably improved.
Conclusion
2
This comprehensive auricular therapy is simple, safe, and effective, with high patient compliance. It can effectively relieve intractable hiccup in patients after basilar artery thrombectomy and is worthy of promotion and application in clinical intensive care units.
