Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Nursing Report of a Rare Case of Gout Complicated with Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus and Hypokalemic Nephropathy
This study analyzes a rare case of gout complicated with nephrogenic diabetes insipidus and hypokalemic nephropathy, highlighting the diagnostic and therapeutic challenges in patients with multi-system comorbidities. The nursing team adopted an integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine (TCM-WM) intervention strategy, combining auricular acupressure with herbal fumigation for synergistic analgesia, strictly managing fluid balance, and formulating a low-purine, high-potassium dietary plan to maintain electrolyte stability. Activity levels and potassium supplementation were dynamically adjusted based on fatigue assessment results, while structured health education was implemented to enhance the patient’s self-management ability. Post-intervention, the patient’s pain symptoms were significantly alleviated, with urine output and biochemical indices returning to normal. This case demonstrates that integrated TCM-WM nursing offers significant advantages in symptom relief, homeostasis maintenance, and quality-of-life improvement, providing a reference paradigm for the clinical care of complex multi-system comorbidities.
