Nursing Report on Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Nursing for One Patient with Refractory Insomnia
This paper summarizes the practical experience of TCM emotional nursing-based case management for a patient with refractory insomnia. The patient developed insomnia due to long-term emotional disturbances, with a prolonged and unresolved disease course accompanied by marked anxiety and depression. Centered on the TCM theory of "emotional pathogenesis" and integrated with the modern case management model, the nursing team formulated an individualized intervention plan based on syndrome differentiation and treatment, which encompassed emotional regulation, acupoint massage, auricular point pressing, dietary therapy according to syndrome differentiation, and lifestyle intervention. Sleep quality and psychological status were dynamically assessed throughout the intervention. After four weeks of systematic nursing care, the patient demonstrated a significant prolongation of sleep duration, marked improvement in sleep efficiency, effective alleviation of anxiety and depression, and substantial enhancement in quality of life. This case provides a referable TCM-characteristic intervention pathway for the clinical nursing of emotion-related insomnia, and confirms the positive role of TCM emotional nursing combined with the case management model in improving the prognosis of patients with insomnia.
