Nursing Experience of Chinese Herbal Soaking Combined with Infrared Therapy in Improving Limb Function in an Elderly Stroke Patient with Hemiplegia: A Case Report
This article summarizes the nursing experience of caring for an 85-year-old patient with post-stroke hemiplegia. On the basis of conventional treatment, a combined external therapeutic approach integrating Chinese herbal soaking with infrared radiation was employed, complemented by targeted integrated Chinese and Western medicine nursing interventions, including skin sensation assessment and burn prevention, staged limb rehabilitation training, emotional regulation, and continuity-of-care guidance. After two weeks of intervention, the muscle strength of the patient's left limb improved from grade 3 to grade 4, the Barthel Index score increased from 50 to 70, and the Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) score decreased from 23 to 13, with no nursing-related complications observed. This combined therapy can effectively promote local blood circulation and neurological function recovery. Combined with precise nursing risk management, it significantly enhances the rehabilitation quality of elderly hemiplegic patients. Moreover, the intervention is easy to perform and merits further exploration and promotion in clinical practice.
