Therapeutic Effect of Pediatric Tuina on a Preterm Infant with Constipation and Abdominal Distension: A Case Observation
To investigate the effect of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) nursing techniques on clinical symptoms in a preterm infant with constipation and abdominal distension.
Methods
2
A preterm infant (gestational age 29+3 weeks) presenting with constipation and abdominal distension was treated with pediatric Tuina (Chinese therapeutic massage) intervention. Symptomatic improvement and clinical efficacy were observed.
Results
2
After 10 consecutive days of Tuina therapy, the infant achieved daily spontaneous defecation with normal stool consistency, resolution of abdominal distension, and satisfactory weight gain.
Conclusion
2
Pediatric Tuina demonstrates significant efficacy in managing constipation and abdominal distension in preterm infants without adverse effects, promoting intestinal function recovery, and holds clinical value for broader application.
