Nursing Experience of Auricular Acupressure Combined with Ocular Gua Sha in Intervening One Case of Adolescent Myopia Based on the Theory of "Essence-Tendon Imbalance"
This paper summarizes the nursing experience of applying auricular acupressure therapy combined with ocular Gua Sha (scraping therapy) in intervening one case of adolescent myopia classified as "liver blood deficiency with ocular collateral stasis," based on the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory of "essence-tendon imbalance." Through a systematic nursing protocol that integrates holistic regulation with localized intervention—aimed at nourishing the liver and kidney, soothing the tendons and collaterals, and promoting the flow of qi and blood—the patient's visual acuity and symptoms of asthenopia were effectively improved. After 8 weeks of intervention, the uncorrected visual acuity of the right eye increased from 0.3 to 0.6, and that of the left eye rose from 0.25 to 0.5. Symptoms of binocular dryness, soreness, and visual fatigue were completely resolved, the tension of the periocular muscles and tendons was alleviated, and the patient's overall mental state and compliance with eye care were markedly improved.
