A Nursing Case Report: Bian Stone Therapy Combined with Acupoint Application for Alleviating Chest Tightness in a Patient with True Heart Pain (Acute Myocardial Infarction)
True heart pain (acute myocardial infarction, AMI) is a critically life-threatening condition, and the clinical care of elderly patients presents considerable challenges, with chest pain and negative emotions being pressing nursing issues requiring prompt resolution. This paper presents a single case of an elderly patient with acute non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) classified as heart qi deficiency with blood stasis syndrome. On the basis of conventional Western medical treatment and standard nursing care, the intervention primarily employed Bian stone (stone needle) thermotherapy combined with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) acupoint application as a characteristic TCM therapy. By leveraging the warming and unblocking effects of Bian stone on the meridians and acupoints, in conjunction with the direct penetration of herbal preparations into affected sites through acupoint application, the combined approach synergistically exerted the effects of replenishing qi, activating blood circulation, unblocking the vessels, and relieving pain. This was supplemented by emotional nursing, dietary regulation, and health education. Following the intervention, the patient's chest pain was substantially alleviated, pain scores decreased significantly, anxiety was ameliorated, myocardial-related indicators gradually returned to normal, and the rehabilitation outcomes were favorable. The findings confirm that the combined application of Bian stone therapy and acupoint application is effective in the nursing care of true heart pain, capable of relieving chest discomfort and facilitating disease recovery. Moreover, the technique is simple, safe, and holds considerable value for clinical application and widespread promotion.
