Nursing Experience in Treating Post-Stroke Hemiplegic Limb Swelling Using Fire Dragon Cupping Combined with Superficial Acupuncture Based on Yellow Emperor's Inner Classic Theory
This paper summarizes the nursing experience of implementing Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)-specific interventions using fire dragon cupping combined with superficial acupuncture, guided by the theory of the Yellow Emperor's Inner Classic, in a patient with hemiplegic limb swelling following stroke, based on conventional rehabilitation nursing. The patient presented with severe swelling of the hemiplegic limb, accompanied by restricted movement and pain after stroke. On the basis of conventional rehabilitation nursing measures such as limb elevation and functional exercises, pattern differentiation-guided fire dragon cupping combined with superficial acupuncture was administered, six times per week for ten consecutive days, once daily. After the intervention, the joint circumference of the swollen hemiplegic limb was significantly reduced compared with that before treatment; the limb swelling scale score decreased from 3 to 1; limb pain was completely relieved; and no adverse events occurred. This case suggests that fire dragon cupping combined with superficial acupuncture, grounded in the theory of the Yellow Emperor's Inner Classic, can effectively ameliorate hemiplegic limb swelling after stroke, relieve pain, and enhance patient comfort and rehabilitation adherence, providing a referable practical experience for TCM-specific nursing care of patients with similar conditions.
