Nursing Experience of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Treatment and Care for a Patient with Viral Meningitis Complicated by Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: A Case Report
This article comprehensively reports the entire process of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment and nursing care for a 63-year-old female patient with viral encephalitis complicated by systemic lupus erythematosus and multiple underlying comorbidities. The patient was admitted with chief complaints of "fever and headache accompanied by blurred consciousness for 3 days" and presented in a state of stupor and coma upon admission. The therapeutic regimen combined Western medical interventions—including anti-infection therapy, antiviral treatment, immunomodulation, antihypertensive management, and nutritional support—with characteristic traditional Chinese medicine techniques, complemented by individualized rehabilitation training, psychological intervention, complication prevention and control, and meticulous nursing care throughout the entire clinical course. Following 11 days of standardized treatment and nursing care, the patient transitioned from coma to wakefulness, with marked improvements in swallowing function, limb mobility, and emotional status, ultimately achieving successful discharge. This study systematically elaborates on the nursing assessment, diagnostic reasoning, goal setting, key operational procedures of integrated Chinese and Western medicine, complication prevention protocols, and effectiveness evaluation in the context of autoimmune encephalitis with complex comorbidities, thereby providing replicable and generalizable practical evidence for the nursing care of clinically similar critically ill patients.
