Nursing Experience of Traditional Chinese Medicine Wet-Compress Therapy Combined with Auricular Acupoint Therapy for a Patient with Lumbar Disc Herniation of Qi Stagnation and Blood Stasis Type
This article summarizes the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) characteristic nursing experience of a patient with lumbar disc herniation of qi stagnation and blood stasis type treated with TCM wet-compress therapy combined with auricular acupoint therapy. Based on the therapeutic principle of "promoting qi circulation and blood activation, resolving stasis, and unblocking collaterals," a Tongbi Plaster formulated with herba lycopodii, herba clematidis, and other herbs was prepared and applied to the patient's Shenshu, Qihaishu, Mingmen, Yaoyangguan, Baliao and Ashi points via TCM wet-compress therapy, in combination with auricular acupoint therapy. This intervention was supplemented with TCM syndrome differentiation-based nursing care, dietary therapy according to syndrome differentiation, emotional regulation, and joint function exercises. By integrating the transdermal absorption of herbal medicine with auricular acupoint stimulation, this therapeutic regimen transcends the limitations of conventional monotherapy and provides a safe and effective novel external treatment approach based on TCM for lumbar disc herniation of qi stagnation and blood stasis type.
