Nursing Experience of Auricular Acupoint Three-Step Therapy in Improving One Case of Hemifacial Spasm Complicated with Insomnia
This article summarizes the nursing experience of applying auricular acupoint three-step therapy to a patient with hemifacial spasm complicated with insomnia. During the nursing process, a combined intervention of auricular massage, copper needle Gua Sha (scraping therapy), and auricular acupoint pressing was implemented, along with individualized emotional care and sleep guidance, for two consecutive treatment courses. Following the intervention, the patient's hemifacial spasm symptoms were alleviated, with both the Cohen Spasm Intensity Scale and Penn Spasm Frequency Scale decreasing from grade 3 to grade 2. Sleep quality was significantly improved, with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) score decreasing from 16 to 8. The results indicate that auricular acupoint three-step therapy demonstrates definite efficacy in ameliorating the symptoms of patients with hemifacial spasm complicated with insomnia. Moreover, this therapy is simple to perform, safe, and holds certain clinical promotional value.
