Nursing Case Report of Auricular Acupressure Combined with Chinese Herbal Acupoint Application in Treating One Postoperative Patient with Ureteral Calculi of Kidney Deficiency and Dampness-Heat Pattern
This paper summarizes the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) nursing experience of applying auricular acupressure combined with Chinese herbal acupoint application for one postoperative patient with ureteral calculi of kidney deficiency and dampness-heat pattern. The patient was admitted to hospital due to left lumbar and abdominal pain. Computed tomography (CT) showed a 0.5 cm calculus in the abdominal segment of the left ureter, and ureteroscopic lithotripsy and stone extraction was performed. Postoperative TCM syndrome differentiation identified the condition as urolithic stranguria (kidney deficiency and dampness-heat pattern), with the pathogenesis of "deficiency in origin and excess in superficiality". On the basis of routine Western medicine nursing, auricular acupressure was administered to regulate qi and relieve pain, Chinese herbal acupoint application was applied to drain dampness, promote calculi expulsion and prevent infection; the interventions were combined with oral Chinese herbal medicine and adjuvant emotional nursing to implement individualized nursing interventions. The patient's postoperative pain was significantly relieved, with no residual calculi or infection, and the rehabilitation period was shortened. For postoperative patients with ureteral calculi of kidney deficiency and dampness-heat pattern, the integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine nursing mode adopting auricular acupressure combined with Chinese herbal acupoint application can effectively alleviate pain, promote stone expulsion, prevent complications and accelerate postoperative rehabilitation, which reflects the advantages of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine nursing and is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
