Nursing Experience of Applying Balanced Cupping Therapy Based on the "Midnight-Noon Ebb-Flow Timing Theory" for One Patient with Spleen-Deficiency and Dampness-Stagnation Abdominal Obesity
This article summarizes the nursing experience of applying balanced cupping therapy for a patient with abdominal obesity of the spleen-deficiency and dampness-stagnation type. Guided by the "Midnight-Noon Ebb-Flow Timing Theory" (Ziwu Liuzhu), balanced cupping therapy—including flash cupping, sliding cupping, and retained cupping—was employed to stimulate the meridians and acupoints, activate meridian qi, unblock the collaterals, strengthen the spleen, eliminate dampness, and regulate qi and blood. After one month of intervention, the patient demonstrated significant improvements in body weight, waist circumference, body mass index (BMI), and waist-to-hip ratio, accompanied by alleviated anxiety, no adverse reactions, and enhanced quality of life. This protocol proves to be safe, effective, and well-tolerated, and may serve as a reference for traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) nursing care of abdominal obesity characterized by spleen deficiency and dampness stagnation.
