Traditional Chinese Medicine External Treatment Nursing Care for a Patient Undergoing Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy Following Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting: A Case Report
This article summarizes the nursing experience of applying Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) external therapies in a patient undergoing continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). On the basis of comprehensive Western medical treatment, the nursing staff administered TCM external interventions, including constipation-relieving patches, auricular acupressure with vaccaria seeds, herbal hot compress packs, and herbal enemas, in conjunction with comprehensive nursing measures such as cardiac output management, respiratory care, CRRT volume control, infection prevention and control, and pressure injury prevention. Following intervention, the patient's vital signs stabilized, cardiac function and gas exchange improved, bowel movements became unobstructed, and no new-onset pressure injuries or catheter-related infections occurred.
