Nursing Experience of Bian-Stone Hot Ironing Combined with Moxibustion in Alleviating Limb Numbness in a Stroke Patient: A Case Report
This article summarizes the nursing experience of applying Bian-stone hot ironing (Bian-shi re-yun) combined with moxibustion to relieve limb numbness in a stroke patient with the qi deficiency and blood stasis pattern. The patient, elderly and physically debilitated, presented with impaired circulation of qi and blood accompanied by limb numbness and restricted mobility. On the basis of routine nursing care, Bian-stone warm ironing was employed to unblock the meridians and collaterals, promote blood circulation, and resolve blood stasis, while moxibustion was applied to replenish qi, strengthen the spleen, and warm and activate blood vessels. Through syndrome differentiation-based nursing care aimed at harmonizing qi and blood, limb circulation was effectively improved, symptoms of limb numbness and impaired mobility were alleviated, and the patient's quality of life was enhanced. This therapeutic approach is characterized by safety, gentleness, and comfort, and has been shown to improve rehabilitation outcomes.
