Nursing Care Experience of Warm Moxibustion Combined with Scraping and Chinese Herbal Paste-Rubbing Therapy for One Patient with Gangrene
This paper reports the nursing care experience of one 70-year-old male patient with gangrene who received comprehensive treatment integrating warm moxibustion, scraping therapy, and Chinese herbal paste-rubbing. The patient was admitted with chief complaints of coldness and numbness in both lower extremities persisting for over ten years, with aggravation over the preceding seven days. The Western medical diagnoses included lower extremity atherosclerotic occlusive disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus and its associated complications, while the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnosis corresponded to gangrene with the pattern of qi deficiency and blood stasis. In accordance with the specific characteristics of the patient's condition, a comprehensive nursing care plan was developed, encompassing foundational nursing, disease monitoring, health education, psychological care, and TCM-characteristic nursing interventions. The TCM nursing measures principally focused on integrating warm moxibustion, scraping therapy, and Chinese herbal paste-rubbing to enhance local blood circulation and ameliorate the ischemic status of the lower extremities. Following the comprehensive intervention, the patient's clinical symptoms were notably alleviated, and the quality of life was significantly improved. This case indicates that the integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine nursing model exerts a positive effect on patients with gangrene and merits broader clinical application and promotion.
