Nursing Report of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine for a Patient with Lower Extremity Venous Ulcer Complicated by Infection
This article summarizes the nursing experience of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine (TCM-WM) for a patient with a lower extremity venous ulcer complicated by infection. On the basis of routine anti-infective treatment and therapies to improve venous return, nursing interventions grounded in TCM syndrome differentiation were implemented, including herbal debridement to remove necrotic tissue from the wound surface, topical application of recombinant human basic fibroblast growth factor (rh-bFGF) and Moist Exposed Burn Ointment (MEBO) to promote wound healing, oral administration of modified Simiao San combined with Wuwei Xiaodu Yin, and TCM external therapies such as herbal soaking compress and hot herbal compress packages. Throughout the course of treatment, dynamic wound assessment, postural management, emotional nursing based on TCM theory, and dietary regulation were simultaneously carried out. Through this systematic intervention, wound infection was effectively controlled, granulation tissue growth was promoted, wound pain was alleviated, and the overall quality of wound healing was significantly improved.
