Nursing Report on Pressure Ulcer in an Advanced-Age Bedridden Patient Treated with Huangbai Liquid Combined with Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Nursing
To summarize the clinical experience of external application of Huangbai Liquid combined with integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine nursing intervention for pressure ulcers in advanced-age bedridden patients.
Methods
2
A systematic integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine nursing regimen was implemented for an 87-year-old pressure ulcer patient with comorbidities of diabetes mellitus, hypertension, post-stroke sequelae and cognitive impairment. For the Western medicine component, refined pressure-relief nursing, systemic nutritional support and standardized glycemic control were delivered. For the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) component, guided by the core syndrome differentiation principle of qi deficiency and blood stasis, local wet compress with Huangbai Liquid was administered, in combination with moxibustion at Zusanli, Qihai and Guanyuan acupoints, as well as meridian-based acupoint massage.
Results
2
After 14 days of intervention, the patient’s pressure ulcer wound shrank from 3.0 cm×4.0 cm to 1.0 cm×1.5 cm, with significantly reduced wound exudate, well-proliferated granulation tissue and alleviated pain. No new pressure ulcers developed throughout the entire intervention course.
Conclusion
2
This intervention protocol is easy to operate, cost-effective and highly clinically practical, which merits further promotion and clinical application.
