Nursing Experience of Abdominal Massage Combined with Acupoint Application and Hot Compress under the Guidance of the Theory of Strengthening the Spleen and Harmonizing the Middle Jiao in Improving Gastrointestinal Reactions Induced by Azithromycin in a Pediatric Patient
To explore the clinical efficacy of abdominal massage combined with acupoint application and hot compress guided by the theory of strengthening the spleen and harmonizing the middle jiao in managing gastrointestinal reactions induced by intravenous azithromycin in a pediatric patient with Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia.
Methods
2
Based on the four diagnostic methods and visceral pattern differentiation, a three-step intervention consisting of regulating qi, strengthening the spleen, and warming yang was implemented. The intervention measures included abdominal massage, acupoint application, and hot water bag compress, aiming to regulate qi and unblock the fu-organs, fortify the spleen and stomach to consolidate middle qi, and warm and activate spleen yang.
Results
2
The discomfort symptoms of gastrointestinal reactions in the pediatric patient were effectively alleviated. Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea were significantly relieved, appetite was improved, and the patient demonstrated good compliance with subsequent treatment.
Conclusion
2
The intervention protocol of abdominal massage combined with acupoint application and hot compress under the guidance of the theory of strengthening the spleen and harmonizing the middle jiao can effectively alleviate gastrointestinal reactions induced by azithromycin. The intervention is safe, simple, and noninvasive with high acceptance among pediatric patients, and is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
