Rehabilitation Nursing Report of a Patient with Severe Hydrocephalus and Tracheotomy Undergoing Ventriculoperitoneal Shunt Following External Ventricular Drainage: A Case Report
This paper summarizes the comprehensive rehabilitation nursing experience of a patient with hydrocephalus, tracheotomy, and severe consciousness disturbance following aneurysm embolization after undergoing ventriculoperitoneal shunt surgery. A standardized catheter nursing protocol and a four-level stepwise airway management model were adopted in clinical practice, combined with early Western functional rehabilitation training and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, complemented by characteristic traditional Chinese medicine nursing techniques including acupuncture, acupoint pressure, and meridian tapping, along with individualized intensive nutritional support intervention. The closed-loop precision nursing model integrating Chinese and Western medicine can effectively prevent shunt-related complications, control pulmonary infection, and correct nutritional imbalance, thereby accelerating the functional recovery of multiple systems including consciousness, respiration, limb function, and swallowing, and improving the long-term rehabilitation prognosis of critically ill neurosurgical patients.
