Nursing experience of a newly diagnosed adult type 2 diabetes patient treated with shared outpatient service combined with TCM characteristic therapy
To summarize a care of a young patient with new-onset type 2 diabetes who achieved diabetes remission successfully. Key points of care include: monitoring and controlling blood sugar actively; building a shared medical appointment, organizing multidisciplinary team work and developing individualized treatment plans in terms of diet, exercise and medication, enhancing management through shared medical appointment; using auricular therapy and herbal footbaths to relieve end-of-limb pain and prevent diabetic complications. After the comprehensive management of a multidisciplinary team, the patient had good blood glucose control and achieved diabetes remission with HbA1c <6.5% after 3 months of discontinuation of hypoglycemic drugs. Subsequent follow-ups were performed every 3 months, and the patient remains in remission.
