A Case Report of a CKD Stage 5 Hyperkalemia Patient
This article reports the clinical nursing experience of a patient with hyperkalemia in stage 5 chronic kidney disease (CKD). This case emphasizes the importance of strict disease monitoring, urgent treatment adjustments, and rapid response capabilities of nursing teams in patients with end-stage renal disease. By implementing comprehensive nursing assessments, precise nursing diagnoses, personalized nursing plans, meticulous nursing implementation, and strict nursing evaluations on patients, hyperkalemia has been successfully controlled, the risk of cardiac complications has been reduced, and the overall quality of patient care has been improved. This report not only summarizes key intervention measures in the nursing process, including emergency discontinuation of drugs that may increase blood potassium, timely balancing and adjusting electrolytes, developing a low potassium diet plan, and providing psychological support, but also provides profound insights and recommendations for clinical nursing practice. Through this case, we have realized the necessity of multidisciplinary collaboration in the care of CKD5 stage hyperkalemia patients and the important role of personalized care plans in improving patient prognosis. This case report aims to provide reference for clinical nursing workers to optimize nursing strategies for CKD5 stage hyperkalemia patients.
